I mean, if you’re going to go to #Evian, this is how you go. Onboard the Evian One to the @evian_resort Thanks to @eviantourisme for giving us such a fabulous ride and staying at your beautiful hotel. All hail spring water.
Another day in France, another castle. This is the #Yvoire Castle, still privately owned and lived in by the Baron and Baroness of Yvoire. Beautiful medieval fortified town with original walls from 12th century. Now a thriving fishing and tourist location, and winner of Four Flowers Award in France. We visited the Jardin de Cinq Sense which is run by the Baron and Baroness. Tried to capture it all in one image. On the shore of Lac Leman sometimes better know. As Lake Geneva.
Yes I heard the bomb go off in Lyon. I was about a block from it. Had just walked past the store where it happened. Lucky to be safe in another store where they ushered us to the back of the store. 7 injured. So scary. I will never understand the people walking towards the bomb site. All on our press trip safe.
Another terrific day of exploring Lyon. I just posed on this scooter. I’m not talented enough to drive as quickly as they do around here. Delicious visit to Paul Bocuse market (see my stories for more). Took a tram and then a 5km walk down the Somme River after visiting the Musee
de Confluence. The architecture here is so mixed and mostly modern. If not 400 years old.
A Roman theatre where you can still go to a summer concert.
City separated by the Rhone and the Somme Rivers. Tall buildings in one quarter only. This is the “pen” and the “eraser”. Tiny streets in the heart of the old town full of Bouchons (local fare restaurants) and silk shops.
Statue outside the Hall of Justice depicting a man carrying himself, or owning his own mistakes. This is the hall that Kali’s Barbie was tried at, 40 years after WW2.
Just a sample of historic Lyon, second largest city in France. My second time here and always finding something new.
Just a few hours in Lyon and we saw all of this. From a basilica to old town to food and drinks and can’t wait until tomorrow.
