7.0

X-Ray

22 July 2026

  • Seventh milestone: Analyser sees straight through a file. A deep forensic pass reads the hidden internals of every photo, video and sound, and explains all of it in plain English.

Photos

  • NewSpot a doctored photo. A new Advanced section brings image forensics to any JPEG. Error-level analysis highlights areas saved at a different quality, and JPEG ghosts reveal regions compressed a second time.
  • NewFind data hidden inside an image. Bit-plane analysis inspects the parts of a picture the eye cannot see, estimates how likely it is that a message is concealed there, and lets you browse every bit plane.
  • NewRead a photo’s edit history and hidden identity. Analyser lays out the edit-history trail some files record, and gathers GPS location, camera serial and owner name into a plain privacy report.
  • NewAnalyse a RAW photo two ways. A camera RAW file holds both a ready-made preview and the untouched sensor data. A switch at the top of the results lets you analyse either one.
  • NewDetect codes, and pull every thumbnail. Barcodes and QR codes in a picture are now read automatically, and all the preview images buried inside a file can be extracted at once.

Video

  • NewSee exactly how a video file is built. A new Advanced card opens up an MP4 or MOV, showing the tree of its building blocks, every track it holds, and the signs that separate a camera original from a re-saved file.
  • NewRead a camera’s flight recorder. Action-camera and phone footage often carries a hidden telemetry track. Analyser decodes GoPro and CAMM data, drawing the GPS route on a local map and plotting the sensor traces.
  • NewFingerprint the encoder and check the stream. Analyser reads deep into the compressed video to recover its true profile, colour and range, and checks that against what the container claims. It also recovers the exact x264/x265 settings left in the stream.
  • NewA whole video at a glance. A content timeline squeezes the video into a single colour “barcode”, with a brightness curve and flags for black or frozen stretches. Click anywhere on it to jump the player there.
  • FasterPlay unsupported video sooner. A clip the browser cannot play is converted to a fast, lightweight copy by default. An Advanced panel sets resolution, frame rate and speed, including an extra-quick Turbo mode.
  • FixAnalysis always describes the original. That playable copy is used only for playback. Every result is read from the original file you dropped, never the converted stand-in.
  • FixMotion timelines play for any video. The synced motion and gyro timelines play even when the video uses a codec the browser cannot open, by following the same playable copy as the main player.

Sound

  • NewA broadcast-grade loudness meter. A full EBU R128 readout shows integrated, momentary and short-term loudness, the range between quiet and loud passages, and the real true peak that ordinary meters miss.
  • NewCatch a fake “lossless” file. Analyser inspects the frequency picture of a FLAC, WAV or ALAC and flags the ceiling left behind when it was really made from an MP3. It also reports the effective bit depth.
  • NewHear the key, and the hidden tones. The musical key is estimated alongside the tempo. Forensic listeners flag mains hum, scan for inaudible ultrasonic tones, and decode touch-tone phone digits.
  • NewSignal-health checks. New crest factor (how heavily a master is compressed) and DC offset (a capture-fault tell) readings join the file info.
  • NewRemove background noise from a recording. A denoise option sits beside the vocal tools on any audio file. An on-device AI model strips out hiss and shows the result as a Clean to Noise blend you can play, analyse or save.
  • NewFriendlier one-tap sound filters. The instant isolate presets are now Underwater, Radio and Hollow. The true AI vocal split sits under a clearly labelled AI separation button.
  • NewAll the deep readings in one Advanced section. The loudness meter and the spectral forensics gather into a single folded Advanced section, the way photos and videos already do. The everyday readings stay up top.
  • NewA video’s sound, analysed in full. Pulling the sound out of a video runs the same analysis as opening that sound on its own, rather than the shorter summary it used to show.
  • FixSwitching AI tool mid-prompt now works. Choosing a different model while a download prompt was open used to be ignored. It updates the prompt straight away now.

Clearer help

  • NewAnswers in plain English, everywhere. The hundreds of little [?] explanations across the site have been rewritten so anyone can follow them. Many readouts and headings that never had one now carry it.
  • NewTidier help that stays put. Tapping a [?] opens a small pop-up anchored to the button instead of pushing the page down, and clicking anywhere else closes it.
  • FixA clear answer for an empty file. Dropping a 0-byte file now explains plainly that there is nothing inside to open, instead of failing with a puzzling error.

Elsewhere

  • FixA clearer 3D mesh verdict. The Mesh integrity card now shows a plain Watertight or Faults found badge in its heading, with friendlier wording for what a “non-manifold” edge actually means.

6.38 - 6.52

Full Frame

21 July 2026

  • Long animated GIFs and WebPs now play all the way through, whatever number of frames they hold. The memory used to do it scales to your device.
  • NewStep through a long animation in full. A big animated GIF or WebP used to stop part-way to spare memory. Each frame is decoded as you scrub to it now, so an animation of any length steps through completely.
  • NewA DJI recorder’s waveform, drawn. The .pkf overview file a DJI Mic, Osmo or drone writes beside each recording draws its waveform, channel count and estimated length, even though it holds no audio itself.
  • NewFile-size limits that fit your device. The point at which a very large archive or disk image is turned away scales with your device memory now. A capable desktop opens larger files than before.
  • FixLong documents preview cleanly. On the See full document view, dark-mode text no longer vanishes against the white page, and the button that opens it sits above the excerpt.
  • Maintenance - a visual tidy and internal groundwork. Every last rounded corner was squared off to match the site’s sharp-cornered style. Nothing you do changes, and the app is lighter and more consistent.

6.36 - 6.37

Disk Dive

20 July 2026

  • Open a raw disk image like a folder, whether it came from an SD card, a USB stick or a floppy. Browse every file inside, and rescue deleted photos the disk no longer lists.

6.36 · The disk browser

  • NewOpen a disk image like a folder. A raw image (.img, .ima or .dsk) mounts its FAT12/16/32 filesystem into a browsable tree and treemap. Click any file to analyse it as if it sat on your own drive.
  • NewRescue deleted photos from a disk image. Analyser scans the raw sectors and carves out every picture it can find, deleted and orphaned ones included, then shows them in a gallery you step through and save.
  • NewRebuild a JPEG with no header at all. Photo recovery already fixed truncated pictures. It can now bring back a JPEG whose header is gone, by borrowing the header of a healthy photo from the same camera.
  • NewAndroid app bundles. XAPK, APKM and APKS installer bundles open as browsable archives, reading the app name, package, version and permissions, and listing the APKs inside.
  • FixThe 3D-model sample shows in colour. The bundled OBJ sample now carries its colours with it, so it previews with its red lettering instead of plain grey.

6.37 · Deeper photo recovery

  • NewSee the readable part of a damaged photo. A recovered photo whose data is cut short no longer comes back blank. Analyser decodes it and shows whatever part is still intact, with the unreadable rest left grey.
  • NewRecover a lost photo from its thumbnail. When the full-size image has been overwritten but the small preview in its header survived, Analyser falls back to that thumbnail. A picture that is otherwise gone still shows the scene.
  • NewScan when you choose, and see everything found. The raw-sector scan waits for a Scan for images button, so opening a big disk image stays instant. Every carved picture appears as a thumbnail with its capture date.
  • FixRecovered photos no longer flash up blank or garbled. Pictures mis-read as empty during a busy scan now show, and a photo scattered across the card is reassembled into the real image.
Older updates

6.32 - 6.35

Watertight

16 July 2026

  • Every 3D model you drop now gets a mesh health-check. Analyser spots the flaws that stop a model printing cleanly or break it in CAD.
  • NewCheck a 3D model for flaws. A Mesh integrity card tells you whether an STL, OBJ, 3MF or STEP is watertight, then counts the open holes, zero-size faces and back-to-front surfaces it finds. When something is wrong it explains what that means for printing.
  • Maintenance - small interim tidy-ups, including a project readme update.

6.21 - 6.31

Provenance

14 July 2026

  • An image-provenance and forensics pass. Read a photo’s Content Credentials, weigh whether it was AI-generated, strip its identifying metadata, and lay out every date it carries.
  • NewSee a photo’s Content Credentials. Analyser unpacks what a C2PA record claims: the tool that signed it, the edits made to it, and the certificate details. It reads the record rather than checking it, so this is provenance the file asserts.
  • NewWeigh up whether a picture is AI-generated. A card gathers the tell-tale signs: generator names in the metadata, the standard AI marker, and the hidden parameter blocks that Stable Diffusion and Midjourney leave behind. It shows the evidence and lets you judge.
  • NewStrip a photo’s hidden metadata. One click removes EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments and GPS from a JPEG, PNG or WebP. The picture and its colours come out bit-for-bit identical, and only the tell-tale data is gone.
  • NewA file’s dates, on one timeline. A card collects every timestamp a file carries, lines them up in order, and flags anything that cannot be true, such as a file changed before it was created.
  • NewA proper documentation site. There is now a browsable documentation site, a searchable guide to what every part of Analyser does. Its feature pages show the real controls inline as live examples.
  • Maintenance - the open-source readme and developer notes were refreshed. The public code readme was rewritten with screenshots. Nothing on the site itself changes.

6.19 - 6.20

Workbench

13 July 2026

  • A full analysis workbench now sits beneath every CSV, Excel and OpenDocument spreadsheet. Sort, filter, search and reshape the data live, and build a chart from it.
  • NewA live data grid. Click a column header to sort by it, filter any column, and search across every column at once. Click a cell to read its full value, or drag to select a rectangle.
  • NewSplit one column into many. Some files pack several fields into a single column. The workbench splits it on a detected or chosen delimiter, with Undo split to put it back.
  • NewSummarise into groups. Pick a column to group by and a calculation, such as count, sum, average or median, and the rows roll up into per-group totals live as you choose.
  • NewBuild a chart. Line, bar, scatter, histogram, pie, area, box plot or heatmap, drawn straight from the grid or from whatever you have selected, with quick suggested-chart buttons and a hover tooltip on every point, bar and slice.
  • NewTake it with you. Save the chart as a PNG, the current stats as JSON, or the filtered and sorted rows as CSV.
  • NewRecognises more date formats. A quarter notation like 2011.06, or a date with dots, dashes or slashes, is read as a real date rather than a plain number. A Dates: D/M/Y toggle beside the grid switches the order by hand.

6.18

Left Off

12 July 2026, 04:15

  • Leaving the home page no longer loses what you were looking at. Browse away and come back, and your analysed file and every result are as you left them.
  • NewCome home to the same file. Analyse something, visit About or Samples, and come back to the same file and results instead of an empty dropzone. Dropping a new file still replaces it.

6.17

Fine Cut

12 July 2026, 02:57

  • The waveform selection becomes a proper editing tool. Drag its edges or its middle, or type exact times, and the Stereo analysis card follows the AI blend live.
  • NewFine-tune a selection by hand. A waveform selection is no longer just click-and-drag. Grab either edge to resize it, grab the middle to move it, or type exact Start and End times.
  • NewA transport under the waveform. Play, pause and scrub directly beneath the waveform card, without scrolling back up to the main player.
  • NewPicking a channel plays it too. Choosing Left, Right or another channel in the Channel picker now solos that channel in playback as well as in the spectrogram and waveform, instead of only changing what you see.
  • NewStereo analysis follows the AI blend. The Stereo analysis card tracks your current vocal and instrumental mix live, and reverts to the file’s own left and right the moment separation is cleared.
  • FixReset zoom stays put. The waveform’s Reset zoom button now sits in its own row, so it stays reachable after zooming clears the selection instead of disappearing with it.

6.14 - 6.16

Homecoming

11 July 2026

  • Analyser is a pure website again. The desktop and mobile app experiment has been retired, and every trace of it stripped back out of the code, so the project is lean and browser-only once more - exactly as it started.
  • Why it went. The desktop and mobile version caused more problems than it solved. If a good-enough reason for a desktop app ever arises, I will fork this project and rewrite it in Rust.
  • A proper welcome for the source code. The repository now has a contributing guide, a security policy, a code of conduct, and templates for bug reports and pull requests. Nothing changes in the app itself.

6.12 - 6.13

Keyring

11 July 2026, 21:30

  • Analyser now reads inside Java KeyStores. The desktop and mobile apps get lighter, and Clear storage keeps everything you have already downloaded.
  • NewRead inside a Java KeyStore. A .jks or .keystore lists every entry it holds and decodes each certificate: who it was issued to and by, how long it stays valid, and its SHA-256 fingerprint. The private keys stay encrypted.
  • FixClear storage keeps your downloads. It clears your history and on-device app data only. Anything you saved for offline use stays, so nothing has to be downloaded again.

Desktop and mobile apps

  • FasterSmaller apps that download extras on demand. The apps fetch the large AI vocal separation model and the language packs only when you first use them, exactly as the website does. Everyday analysis still works fully offline.
  • FixReading text in other languages works in the apps. Recognising text (OCR) in languages beyond English now works in the desktop and mobile apps, not only on the website.

6.08 - 6.11

Even Keel

11 July 2026, 18:03

  • A reliability and mobile pass on the AI vocal separation. It runs on iPhone and Safari instead of crashing, keeps working after you clear storage, and its controls fit a phone.
  • FixVocal separation works on iPhone and Safari. Starting a run on an Apple device used to crash the tab. Those browsers take the steady path now, a little slower but clean to the end. Chrome and Edge keep the fast graphics-card path.
  • FixThe separation controls fit a phone. The Isolate and Separate panel stacks into clean full-width blocks on a narrow screen, instead of crowding into one cramped row.
  • FixClearing storage keeps the AI model. If you have an offline download saved, Clear storage spares the large vocal-separation model so offline separation keeps working. Everything else is still cleared.
  • FixA tidier page edge on wide screens. On a very wide display the drifting grid backdrop stays within the content column, with the page background filling the margins to a clean hairline.
  • A lighter G-code clip by default. A recorded G-code clip exports at Standard quality and 30 frames a second, with High and Max a tap away when you want more.
  • Maintenance - a large internal reorganisation. The whole site was moved into one folder and the build scripts were consolidated. Nothing changes for you.

Desktop app

  • The desktop app joins the count. It adds to the anonymous running total, the same single tick the website sends. Only the extension and the supported status are sent, never the name, size or contents.

6.06 - 6.07

Guard Rails

10 July 2026, 23:53

  • A broad robustness and safety pass across the whole workbench. Analyser shrugs off malformed or hostile files, keeps every preview inert, and tidies its memory use.
  • FixSturdier against broken or hostile files. A corrupt or crafted file could lock up the tab while Analyser read it. Every file reader now stops cleanly the moment something does not add up.
  • FixPreviews stay inert. Previews of notebooks, e-mail, presentations, documents and vector images are sanitised more strictly, so nothing embedded in a file can run or reach out to the network.
  • FixOne file at a time. Dropping several files onto the page at once now analyses the first one cleanly, instead of rendering them on top of one another.
  • FixA clear message when a viewer trips. If a file’s viewer hits an unexpected error, Analyser shows a plain error with the fingerprint still available, rather than a near-empty result that looked like a success.
  • FixVery large files bow out gracefully. Opening an enormous archive or G-code file no longer risks crashing the tab. Past a sensible size Analyser declines and tells you why.
  • FixOffline features are more dependable. The Download for offline use cache and the anonymous analysed count survive updates and reloads reliably. An older saved copy no longer shadows a freshly updated version.
  • FixLighter on memory. Preview images and players across many formats now release their memory once they are no longer on screen, so a long session of analysing file after file stays lighter.
  • The high-score board is just for fun. The Asteroids leaderboard is marked as unverified, because players submit their own scores and nothing checks them.

Desktop app

  • FixThe desktop app only reads what you drop. It reads the exact file you drag onto it and never any other file by path, so it holds the same tight boundary as the website.

6.0 - 6.05

Unmix

10 July 2026, 19:31

  • Sixth milestone: Analyser pulls a song apart. A neural network splits any track into vocal and instrumental parts on your device, and a slider fades between them while the picture morphs.

In the browser

  • NewSplit a song into vocals and instrumental. The Isolate panel gains a Separate tool that runs a neural network entirely in your browser. Each part gets its own player, an Analyse button and a Download WAV, and nothing is uploaded.
  • NewFade between the voice and the backing track, live. A Vocals and Instrumental slider sits under the spectrogram. Drag it and the view morphs in real time while playback crossfades what you hear.
  • NewA lighter model for phones. The tool offers two models. Standard gives the cleanest separation at about 85 MB, and Lite is half the download and lighter to run. Both run entirely on your device.
  • NewChoose the model each time. Clicking Separate vocals (AI) opens a short prompt to confirm and switch models before anything runs. Click the button again to clear the separated parts.
  • NewIsolate now shapes the separated parts. The Isolate presets and manual frequency bands apply to the AI blend as well. The blend plays on its own audio path, so it starts cleanly instead of over the original track.
  • NewThe blended view honours your spectrogram settings. The picture updates smoothly as you drag the slider. The moment you settle it, the blended spectrogram is recomputed at your exact settings.
  • NewA loading screen. Opening Analyser now shows a brief branded splash that fades away the moment the app is ready, matching the site’s look and your light or dark theme.
  • NewChoose your offline extras. The Complete offline download opens a small chooser. Text recognition in 30 languages and the AI vocal separation model are separate picks, so you need not pull one to get the other.
  • NewFull camera controls for 3D models. The 3D model viewer gains the same camera controls as the G-code preview: a press-and-hold zoom pad, a scroll-to-zoom toggle and a fullscreen button.
  • NewA tidier samples gallery. The samples page leads with a small curated set and tucks the rest behind a + More reveal, so it is less overwhelming on a phone.
  • FasterThe AI model is kept for a day. Once downloaded, the chosen model is stored for 24 hours, so reloading the page no longer re-downloads it. Even a hard refresh keeps it.
  • Your count survives going offline. The single anonymous tick banks itself with no connection and sends once you are back online, so the running total stays accurate. Only the extension and the supported status are ever sent.
  • FixThe spectrogram playhead keeps up. The white marker now tracks your cursor exactly as you scrub across the spectrogram, instead of easing in a step behind.
  • FixA new file silences the last one. Analysing a new file stops any sound still playing from the previous one. The AI blend, a reversed clip and a sonified image used to carry on underneath.
  • FixClearer headings and readouts. The small [?] hints sit next to their heading instead of drifting to the middle. The spectrogram’s analysis figures moved into the File info card as a standard readout table.
  • FixThe volume popup stays put. On the audio and video players, sliding from the volume button up to the slider no longer snaps the popup shut before you reach it.
  • FixThe offline picker closes cleanly. The feature chooser no longer leaves an invisible layer behind. On some phone browsers that layer kept swallowing taps until you reloaded the page.
  • FixSharper accessibility and a steadier footer. With high-contrast mode on, the page background sits a clear step off the card colour. Opening the footer’s dependencies list no longer nudges the buttons around.
  • Tidier Isolate controls. The frequency presets, custom bands and the new AI separator are grouped into clear labelled sections, and the Isolate button matches the other controls instead of carrying a red outline.

Desktop app

  • NewAnalyser is now a desktop app. A native app for Windows, macOS and Linux, built from the same code and running the same on-device engine. It installs like any normal app and works fully offline.

5.16 - 5.21

Side by Side

10 July 2026, 01:41

  • A new /compare page lines up two files side by side. The sound workbench gets much stronger, with a volume boost, one-tap instrument solos, and a WAV export.
  • NewCompare two files side by side. The new Compare page runs two dropped files through the full analysis and merges the results into one table per section, with a Show differences toggle to narrow the view to what changed.
  • NewTurn a quiet clip up past 100%. The volume control on every player opens a slider that reaches 225%. A built-in limiter keeps the boosted sound from distorting, and volume starts back at 100% on a fresh visit.
  • NewSolo the vocals, bass or drums. The Isolate tool gains one-tap presets that keep just that part of the mix, plus a Remove vocals option. They only approximate, because instruments share frequencies.
  • FixThe spectrogram brightens as you boost. Pushing a quiet clip louder lifts the spectrogram sensitivity to match, and the slider gains a click-to-reset mark at its default.
  • FixLarge archives list everything. A big ZIP keeps its file index far into the file, and that index is read in full now, so every entry is listed.
  • FixStats charts respond to touch. On the stats page, tapping a bar or point on a phone now shows its exact figure - the same read-out a mouse hover gives on a desktop.
  • FixSmoother G-code tool highlight. Switching which tool is highlighted cross-fades the others smoothly instead of snapping. A build defaults to a fixed 30-second run through the whole job, and real-time playback is still there as a choice.
  • Every dependency now shows its licence. The footer’s open-source credits gain a small licence link beside each library, so you can read the exact terms.
  • Maintenance. The per-format guide pages had a fact-checking pass, correcting dozens of wrong dates and attributions. Every file type now carries at least three verified “Did you know” facts.

5.15

Sharp Lines

8 July 2026, 02:51

  • A recorded G-code build clip now looks sharper. It exports at a higher bitrate by default, with a new quality choice for when you want more.
  • NewChoose the clip quality. The G-code Export clip panel gains a Quality setting of Standard, High or Max, so the thin toolpath lines stay crisp. The estimated file size updates as you choose.

5.14

Cross Check

8 July 2026, 02:38

  • A wide compatibility pass so more of the workbench works outside Chrome. Office, e-book and comic files open on older browsers, and zoom works in Firefox.
  • NewCRC-32 on every file. Show more hashes adds a CRC-32 checksum beside MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-512, for matching against checksum files. ZIP, PNG and gzip all use it.
  • FixOffice, e-book and comic files open on older browsers. Older Safari, Firefox and Chrome lack the built-in unzipper Analyser relied on, so it falls back to a bundled one instead of failing to open.
  • FixZoom works in Firefox. Double-click and double-tap zoom in the PDF and document viewers now works in Firefox, which does not support the zoom method the other browsers use.
  • FixThe 3D and G-code viewers stop going blank. Opening several models in a row used to exhaust the browser’s graphics contexts. Each viewer releases its context when you move on.
  • FixSome HEVC video plays in Firefox. Firefox has no HEVC support, so a raw or recovered clip is re-encoded when the browser cannot decode it. It plays instead of showing black.
  • FixGentler on phones. A very large comic, DjVu scan or database shows a clear notice on a phone instead of crashing the tab. Big spectrograms stop rendering blank at their size limits.
  • Safari and iOS groundwork. The frosted-glass labels, PDF text selection, home-screen install and audio playback all pick up Safari-specific fixes under the hood.

5.13

Now Playing

8 July 2026, 01:49

  • Files your browser refuses to play on its own now play anyway. An unusual camera video is offered as a one-tap conversion, and audio it cannot decode is rebuilt.
  • FixVideo the browser cannot decode gets a way in. A clip in a professional camera format is recognised as unplayable and offered as a Convert to H.264 button, instead of loading a black player.
  • FixAudio it cannot decode is no longer silent. Analyser already rebuilt the waveform when the browser lacked a decoder. It plays that rebuilt sound too now, so those files actually play.
  • FixTidier PDF previews. A wildly long PDF page no longer stretches down the screen, because each preview is capped to a page shape and scaled to fit.
  • FixDrag a PDF page to move it. With a page open you can now grab it and pan with the cursor, and a page that already fits no longer scrolls sideways for no reason.
  • FixG-code tools fade back in. At the end of a recorded G-code clip, tools that were dimmed to highlight the active one now ease smoothly back to full strength instead of snapping.
  • FixGrab the After Effects timeline scrollbar. The scrollbar under a long After Effects timeline can now be dragged directly, instead of the timeline sliding along underneath your grab.

5.12

Band Stop

7 July 2026, 07:41

  • The sound workbench gets sharper. Mute frequencies you pick straight on the spectrogram, and see below 20 Hz for the first time.
  • NewMute the frequencies you choose. An Isolate mode lets you drag across the spectrogram, or type an exact low and high frequency, to pick bands. Each one is muted from playback and shaded on the view.
  • Keep scrubbing while you isolate. You can still move the playhead while marking out frequency bands, so picking ranges and listening no longer fight each other.
  • NewSee what your picture will sound like. In Image to sound, every setting that shapes the sound redraws the picture live, so you can read the loudness map before you render. An Analyse WAV button runs the full sound analysis without playing.
  • FixThe spectrogram reaches below 20 Hz. It extends down to 10 Hz, so very low bass and infrasound that used to drop off the bottom of the chart are visible.
  • NewA G-code clip that gets to the point. A recorded build clip rushes its first few setup moves past in the opening second. The rest is spent watching the real object draw itself.

5.11

Render First

7 July 2026, 03:40

  • Every file now leads with the real thing: the render, preview or file tree first, and the technical details below. The After Effects timeline is rebuilt with true layer timing.
  • FixThe render comes first. Across every viewer the actual result sits at the top of the report, with the technical details beneath, so you see the file itself before its fingerprints.
  • FixClips you can share anywhere. A recorded G-code clip saves in a broadly compatible video format now, so it plays on WhatsApp and other apps that refused the old one.
  • NewSet the clip speed exactly. The Export clip panel now offers recording speeds in lines per second, plus fields to type an exact duration or lines-per-second, alongside the length presets.
  • FixThe export panel fits your phone. On a phone the Export clip settings now fill the screen with a close button in the corner, instead of running off the bottom out of reach.
  • Sound leads with its spectrogram. The Sound analysis now opens with the interactive spectrogram at the top and the channel picker directly beneath it.
  • FixAfter Effects timelines read true. An After Effects timeline places every layer at its real position. Trimmed clips that used to pile up at the start now spread out exactly as they sit in the project.
  • NewLayers coloured and marked like After Effects. Each layer takes its real After Effects label colour, with a glyph naming its kind, so the timeline reads at a glance.
  • NewScrub an After Effects timeline. Hovering the timeline now draws a guide line that snaps to the nearest frame and shows its timecode and frame number in a small readout.

5.10

Take One

7 July 2026, 00:43

  • A G-code build can now be recorded as a video, with the object drawing itself on from the first move to the last. Download it to keep or share.
  • NewRecord a build as a video. An Export clip button renders the whole G-code build as an MP4, with a panel to choose the length, frame rate, aspect and quality. It renders faster than real time, entirely on your own device.
  • FixA cleaner “dim other tools”. On a multi-tool print, fading every tool except the active one no longer makes dense areas bloom into a glow. The faded tools recede cleanly instead.

5.09

Close Up

6 July 2026, 15:50

  • The G-code and 3D viewer gains proper zoom controls and a tidier fullscreen.
  • NewZoom in without a mouse wheel. The G-code viewer adds a zoom pad you can press and hold. A scroll-zoom toggle makes the wheel zoom the model only when you turn it on.
  • FixFullscreen keeps the controls in reach. The viewer starts with the canvas filling the screen and the controls collapsed to a slim bar, with a More controls button to expand them.

5.08

Any File

6 July 2026, 13:15

  • The home page becomes a single “drop any file” zone, and multi-channel sound can be analysed one channel at a time.
  • NewOne dropzone for everything. The home page leads with a single drop any file or folder zone, in place of the three separate cards. Record sound and Live spectrogram sit a click away.
  • NewPick a channel to analyse. A stereo or surround file lets you choose which channel drives the spectrogram and waveform, each labelled by its speaker position, instead of merging them to mono.
  • NewAnalyse an image found inside a file. Pictures carved out of another file now carry an Analyse button that runs the full photo tools on the extracted image, and the photo Sonify tool previews its Gamma curve on the image live as you drag it.

5.07

Living Type

4 July 2026, 10:00

  • Variable fonts come alive again, and their weight, width and other adjustable traits can animate on their own. A real variable font joins the samples gallery to try it on.
  • NewWatch a font move. In a variable font (.ttf or .otf) each adjustable trait has a play button that sweeps it back and forth. A Play all control animates every axis at once.
  • NewA variable font to try it on. The Samples gallery gains Fraunces, an expressive variable serif. Open it in a click and morph its weight, optical size and softness live.
  • FixThe specimen leads. The live font preview sits at the top of the report, above the technical details, so the real rendering is the first thing you see.
  • More of the app, offline. The Everything download now also bundles EPS and PostScript graphics, AutoCAD drawings, STEP and IGES CAD models and the whole sample gallery, so more formats open with no connection at all.

Sound Vision

1 July 2026, 22:00

  • Analyser can now turn a picture into sound. Read any photo as a recipe for audio, play and scrub it against the image, and save the result.
  • NewHear a picture. The Sound section offers to Sonify a photo, reading left to right as time, top to bottom as pitch and brightness as loudness. A line sweeps across the picture in step with the audio.
  • NewPlay a real spectrogram back. Drop an actual spectrogram image and Analyser inverts it to recover the sound it depicts. An Invert switch handles pictures drawn dark on light.
  • NewThe whole sound workbench, on the result. A sonified picture runs straight through the full Sound analysis, with a download to WAV. The length runs to three minutes, or type any duration you like.
  • NewKeep what you record. After recording from the microphone or capturing the live spectrogram, a Download button now saves the captured sound, so a take you have just analysed is no longer lost when you leave the page.

5.04

Three Tiers

28 June 2026, 02:39

  • Analyser now says plainly how deeply it can open each format, with a new “Partial” tag for files it can only preview. The circuit-board 3D view gains pinch-zoom on phones.
  • NewSee how deeply a format opens, at a glance. Every format carries a Full, Partial or ID tag. Photoshop, Illustrator, Fusion 360 and Krita give up only an embedded preview, so they are marked Partial.
  • NewPinch and pan a circuit board on your phone. The 3D view of a KiCad board zooms with a pinch and pans with two fingers. Double-tap glides the view back to where it started.
  • FixBoard part lists fit the screen. On a phone, a bill of materials no longer stretches the page wider than the screen. Long part numbers wrap, and a wide table scrolls within its own card.
  • FixThe findings that matter lead. The note about data hidden after a file’s end sits lower in the report now, just above the fingerprints. It is no longer dressed as a red alert, because it is not a failure.

5.01 - 5.03

Forensic Sweep

27 June 2026, 18:30

  • Analyser sharpens into a forensic toolkit. It maps where a file turns random, pulls hidden files back out, spots edited photos and tampered timestamps, and traces a PDF’s scripts.
  • NewSee where a file turns random. An unknown file gets a colour strip charting how random each part is. Flat, high regions point to compressed or encrypted data, and a sudden step marks a seam.
  • NewPull a hidden file back out. When data is tacked on after a file’s real end, you can extract it with one click or open it in place. An archive hidden behind a JPEG opens straight into the archive browser.
  • NewNetwork indicators, gathered. URLs, IP addresses, domains and email addresses found inside a document, script or config file are now listed together, each with one-click lookup links to public reputation services. Nothing is sent until you choose to click.
  • NewCatch a tampered date. A photo or PDF is checked for impossible timestamps, such as a date in the future or a modification dated before the original. It warns when a file’s history does not add up.
  • NewSpot a cropped photo. The small preview a camera tucks inside a JPEG is compared to the full image. Proportions that no longer match are a sign the photo was cropped after it was taken.
  • NewSee what a PDF’s scripts do. Embedded PDF JavaScript is laid out by what triggers it, with the scripts that run automatically called out. A scan flags code reaching the network or launching programs.
  • NewPhotoshop layers, in full. A .psd lets you save any layer as a PNG, and flags layers you cannot see in the flattened image. Those are a common place to stash a watermark or an earlier draft.
  • NewOffice files give up more. Word flags “ghost authorship” when the last editor is not the original author. Excel lists its pivot tables, and the old .doc and .xls files are checked for macros.
  • NewQuery a database in place. A SQLite database now offers a query box to run your own read-only SQL against a copy of it, right in your browser, alongside the schema and sample rows it already showed.
  • NewSubtitles the way they look. Advanced SubStation Alpha subtitles render with their real colours, bold, italics and line breaks on a dark stage, with a table of every style the file defines.
  • NewPlay a Lottie animation. A Lottie or Telegram sticker animation plays live with a timeline you can scrub, plus play, pause, speed and loop controls, rather than being merely identified.
  • NewOpen an FBX model. An Autodesk .fbx from Blender, Maya or Unreal opens in the interactive 3D viewer, reading its mesh from both the binary and text forms of the format.
  • NewReports you can verify and print. The exported report leads with a verification block holding the SHA-256, size, a UTC timestamp and the version. A PDF option prints the whole report.
  • FixWeb pages preview properly. An .html preview lays the page out at a real browser width and scales it to fit, with a Desktop and Mobile switch.
  • FixG-code display settings stay as you set them. Switching a render-quality option no longer resets “dim other tools” or the build-plate view. What you had showing stays showing.
  • Polish: the Samples button is highlighted in the navbar, the stats graph opens on the cumulative view, and the export panel fits within the height of the screen.

5.0

Machine Shop

25 June 2026, 20:55

  • The fifth milestone. Analyser brings broken files back from the dead, opens professional CAD from Fusion 360 and SolidWorks, and adds a gallery of built-in example files.
  • NewRescue a broken photo. A truncated or corrupt photo that no viewer will open can be salvaged. Analyser repairs a half-written JPEG, PNG or HEIC, and rebuilds a damaged header from a working reference shot.
  • NewRecover an unfinished video. A video cut off mid-recording, with no index left to play it by, is rebuilt frame by frame. It borrows the missing setup from the clip itself or from a reference video.
  • NewAutodesk Fusion 360 designs open. A Fusion 360 design (.f3d) opens to the thumbnail Fusion rendered into it, alongside the document kind, the version that saved it, and how many solid bodies it holds.
  • NewSolidWorks parts, assemblies and drawings open. Older files give up their saved preview image and document details. Files from SolidWorks 2015 onward are encrypted end to end, so they are identified on sight.
  • NewTry it with built-in examples. A new Samples gallery offers photos, audio, video, 3D models, a circuit board and more, each opening in a single click. They are sandboxed, never counted and never recorded.
  • NewColour looks, not just tables. Analyser opens Adobe SpeedGrade and Iridas .look files beside colour look-up tables (.cube). Every LUT is shown applied to a sample photo, before and after.
  • New3D models stand the right way up. An STL, 3MF, AMF or STEP model opens upright instead of lying on its side, with a one-tap Z-up / Y-up button to flip it.
  • NewMulti-tool prints, tool by tool. A tool-changing G-code print marks the active tool with its own numbered, colour-coded toolhead, so you can follow which tool laid down which part.
  • FixG-code playback pauses where the print does. The player honours dwell commands, manual pauses and heat-up waits, so the head holds still exactly where the real machine would.
  • NewZortrax prints recognised. A Zortrax Z-SUITE compiled print (.zcode) is identified on sight. It is the sliced, machine-ready job sent to a Zortrax 3D printer.
  • FixArchive contents come first. Open a .zip and the visual treemap sits at the top, above the integrity panels, so you see the shape of an archive before its fingerprints.
  • Polish: the new Fusion 360 and SolidWorks viewers join the engineering format guides, and Zstandard-compressed archives are handled.

4.17

Split Personality

24 June 2026, 05:18

  • An extension that stands for several unrelated file types now gets a guide page explaining each one. The folder scanner judges files by what is inside them rather than their name.
  • NewOne extension, many file types, told apart. A .pkg is a macOS installer or a Destiny game package, and a .key is a Keynote slideshow or an encryption key. Each meaning gets its own card on the guide page, and 23 extensions are covered.
  • NewThe folder scanner reads contents, not just names. Analyser identifies each file by what is inside it, so a misnamed file it can still read counts as openable, and a genuinely unreadable one is flagged.
  • NewDestiny game packages recognised. A Destiny or Destiny 2 .pkg from Bungie’s Tiger engine is told apart from a macOS installer of the same name, and reads its package id and build date.
  • NewMore developer and phone formats. Interface definitions, classic ASP pages, GPU shaders and project templates are recognised, alongside Android extras such as Google Camera settings and game data packs.
  • NewA fairer photo sharpness score. Sharpness measures focus on its own terms instead of being thrown off by a scene’s contrast. A softly-lit but well-focused shot reads as sharp on a clean 0 to 100 scale.
  • FixThe folder breakdown pop-up stays put. The pop-up listing the files in a slice no longer vanishes when you scroll inside it. Only a scroll outside it closes it.

4.16

Tamper Evident

24 June 2026, 00:44

  • Analyser learns to spot files that are not what they claim to be. It flags a disguised file, finds data hidden after a file’s end, and checks archive integrity.
  • NewSpot a file in disguise. When a file’s real contents do not match its name, Analyser flags it the moment you open it and tells you what the file actually is. A program renamed as a photo is the classic case.
  • NewFind data hidden after the end. Analyser detects extra data tacked on after a file’s real ending, in JPEG, PNG, GIF, WAV and ZIP files. It tells you how much is there and what it looks like.
  • NewMore fingerprints, on demand. The integrity panel offers MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-512 alongside SHA-256, which is what forensic tools and older checksum files rely on.
  • NewArchive timing and integrity. A new panel charts when each file inside a .zip was last stamped, flagging archives repacked in one go. A button recomputes every stored checksum to catch corruption.
  • NewA private record of what you analysed. The home page keeps a short list of recent files, with their names, sizes and types only. It is stored on your own device alone, and the latest ten are kept for a week.
  • NewSpreadsheets flag the odd one out. A .csv points out anomalies in your data: numbers far outside the rest, columns that never change, and dates spaced too evenly to be real.
  • The header now counts files analysed. The running tally in the page header shows how many files Analyser has analysed, in place of the visitor count.

4.12 - 4.15

Source & Circuit

23 June 2026, 04:22

  • KiCad circuit designs open as interactive schematics and boards, source code in almost any language opens as readable text, hundreds more game, machine-learning and developer formats are recognised, and plain-text files gain a full-text reader.
  • NewKiCad designs open. A KiCad schematic (.kicad_sch) or circuit board (.kicad_pcb) is rebuilt as an interactive drawing you can pan and zoom, with copper, silkscreen, pads and tracks switchable layer by layer.
  • NewSimulation waveforms and fabrication netlists. A SPICE .raw dump opens with every signal decoded and drawn on a graph you can hover. An IPC-D-356 netlist draws a fabrication map of every test point, coloured by net.
  • NewSource code opens as text. A source file in almost any language, or the build and configuration files that fill a project, opens straight to a readable source preview with a line count.
  • NewHundreds more formats recognised. Game files from Cyberpunk 2077, Valve’s Source 2, Unity and the classic Marathon trilogy are named on sight, alongside ONNX machine-learning models and macOS dynamic libraries.
  • NewRead a plain-text file in full. A text or extensionless file offers a Show full text button to open the whole thing. A LICENSE file opens as clean plain text with its own full-screen reader.
  • FixClearer G-code playback speeds. The G-code playback speed picker now labels its job-time column Duration instead of the ambiguous “Length”.
  • Polish: the KiCad board and 3D model views render more cleanly, with a sweep of small fixes across the viewers.

4.08 - 4.11

Printed Circuit

22 June 2026, 00:14

  • Altium circuit-board designs open as interactive schematics and boards, and the G-code visualiser learns travel moves and full-colour multi-material prints.
  • NewAltium Designer files open. An Altium schematic (.SchDoc) or circuit board (.PcbDoc) is rebuilt as an interactive vector view you can pan, zoom and switch layer by layer. It reads out each part number with its datasheet and supplier links.
  • NewG-code travel moves, drawn in. The .gcode viewer shows the non-printing travel moves in the true order the machine runs them, so you can see exactly how a print is stitched together.
  • NewMulti-material prints in their real colours. A multicolour or multi-material print now paints each move in its actual filament colour, read straight from the slicer’s own settings, with every tool change and colour swap followed through.
  • FasterEven the biggest prints draw whole. A print of millions of segments is capped to stay smooth, scaled to your device memory. A Show full anyway button redraws the entire object.
  • FixQuality controls stay within reach. Showing a very large G-code file in full no longer greys out the render-quality buttons. The heavier settings simply start switched off.

4.01 - 4.07

Colour Grade

21 June 2026, 03:50

  • The stats page gains a usage graph over time. Colour grades and Resolve timelines come alive, and video gains frame-by-frame stepping.
  • NewA usage graph on the stats page. The stats page plots visitors and files over time. Switch between a per-day view and a running cumulative total, and hover any day to read off the exact figures.
  • NewColour look-up tables, visualised. A .cube LUT shows the tone curve it bends, before-and-after swatches, and an interactive 3D colour cube. Load your own photo and the look is applied across eight frames.
  • NewThe grades inside a Resolve timeline, read out. A DaVinci Resolve .drt timeline lists each clip’s colour-grade node chain, so you can see how a shot was graded without opening Resolve.
  • NewWindows .lib libraries open. A Microsoft COFF .lib tells a true static library, carrying real compiled code, apart from a DLL import library. It reads the target architecture and lists the objects inside.
  • NewFiles with no extension open as text. A README or a suffix-less config opens straight away as readable text. If its contents look like a known format, Analyser offers to open it that way instead.
  • NewA sample of every script a font can write. A specimen shows a sample sentence for each writing system the font covers, not just the Latin “quick brown fox”. Font collections (.ttc) let you preview each face inside.
  • NewHundreds more formats recognised. Source code, game-engine assets, electronics designs and backup files are named on sight, bringing the total past 1,260. Every one gains its own format guide page.
  • FixThe folder openability scan now tells the truth. Scanning a folder gives exactly the verdict you would get by dropping each file yourself. A new button copies the path to every unsupported file at once.
  • NewStep through a video frame by frame. Prev frame and Next frame buttons move exactly one frame at a time, landing dead on each frame instead of drifting.
  • A tidier header on phones and tablets. On smaller screens the page header now lays its version, visitor and status details out in neat clusters instead of stacking awkwardly.

4.0

Third Dimension

19 June 2026, 14:32

  • Analyser steps into 3D. A full G-code visualiser for 3D printing and CNC milling arrives, along with a proper interactive viewer for 3D models.
  • NewSee the object hidden inside a G-code file. A .gcode file rebuilds the real printed shape in a viewer you can orbit and zoom. Colour it by height, speed or feature type, and peel it back layer by layer with the build-height slider.
  • NewWatch it build. Press play and the toolpath draws on from the first move to the last, a little toolhead tracing the way. Choose the pace from a pop-up, including real time.
  • NewCNC milling programs, read properly. A milling .tap lists its whole tool table, with every cutter, its type, spindle speed and the operations it runs. Each tool’s cuts are drawn in their own colour.
  • NewA real 3D model viewer. .stl, .obj, .step, .3mf and .glb open in an interactive viewer with an orientation cube you can grab to spin the model. A wireframe shows how the mesh is built.
  • NewRead any table cell in full. Click a cell in a .csv and its complete value pops up, labelled with its column reference. That helps when a long entry is clipped by the table.
  • NewA guide for every format, and a clearer front door. G-code and each 3D format gained its own plain-language guide page, so a search for “how to open a .tap file” lands somewhere useful.
  • FasterA more useful offline download. The Everything download bundles EPS graphics and AutoCAD drawings as well. That leaves the heaviest Complete download as purely the extra OCR languages.
  • FixSmoother build playback. Pressing play moves at a steady, true pace. A long, slow move draws on gradually with the toolhead gliding along it, instead of snapping to the end.
  • FixA clearer, steadier 3D view. Prints and models open framed to fill the viewer and centred on the part, and a stray slicer purge line no longer shrinks them into a speck.
  • Polish: optional anti-aliasing controls keep dense toolpaths crisp, and every 3D view gets a gentler default spin.

3.45 - 3.46

Long Tail

19 June 2026, 02:29

  • Analyser now recognises over eighty more file types, more than 1,140 in all. The newest Visual Studio solution format opens too.
  • NewThe newest Visual Studio solutions open. A .slnx lists every project it groups, each one’s language and the build configurations, just like the classic .sln.
  • NewOver eighty more formats recognised. New types across documents, archives, mapping, game assets, email and CAD are named on sight. The truly obscure ones get a new Niche and rare formats group.
  • Maintenance: the format guide pages carry the live visitor count, and the light and dark switch announces itself to screen readers.

3.37 - 3.44

Home Movies

18 June 2026, 14:12

  • Camcorder video now opens and plays in the browser, alongside a round of behind-the-scenes tidying.
  • NewAVCHD camcorder clips play. An .mts clip from a Sony, Panasonic or Canon camcorder plays straight away. Analyser repackages it into a browser-friendly MP4 on your own device, leaving the original picture untouched.
  • Maintenance: a sweep of internal tidying. Unused code was removed, and one misbehaving format can no longer interrupt a file’s analysis.

3.33 - 3.36

Fine Tuning

18 June 2026, 05:45

  • A rebuilt About page that explains Analyser at a glance and gives Office documents their own place - plus a sweep of small fixes and tidying under the hood.
  • NewA clearer About page. The About page opens with a short walkthrough of how Analyser works. Office documents and presentations get a prominent place in the list of what opens.
  • FixA few formats are recognised correctly now. An .nsf is identified as NES game music rather than a Lotus Notes database, and more files name the right application and version.
  • Maintenance: a thorough pass over the code’s internal comments, and every format guide page brought in line with the rest of the site’s link previews.

3.30 - 3.32

Cutting Room

18 June 2026, 04:37

  • Open the projects your editors and game engines save: Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and VEGAS timelines, Unity scenes and Visual Studio solutions.
  • NewPremiere Pro projects open. A .prproj rebuilds every sequence timeline, with each clip drawn as a bar across stacked video and audio tracks. It reads the resolution, frame rate and project version.
  • NewDaVinci Resolve projects open. A .drp project or .drt timeline from Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve rebuilds each timeline the same way, showing source filenames, frame rates and timecode, the media pool bins, and colour-coded titles, generators and transitions.
  • NewVEGAS Pro projects open. A Sony or MAGIX VEGAS .veg reads the version, the project summary, every title and effect it uses, and the media it references. The actual title text is decoded.
  • NewSony camera motion data, decoded. Footage from Sony Alpha, FX and RX cameras carries a gyroscope track, and that data is plotted over time. Gyroflow uses the very same samples to stabilise footage.
  • NewGyroflow motion logs open. A .gcsv gyro log opens with its three axes plotted on a zoomable timeline you can hover to read off values.
  • NewUnity game assets open. Unity scenes (.unity), prefabs, Animator Controllers and animation clips are read from their YAML, giving a scene’s objects, an animation’s curves and a controller’s states.
  • NewVisual Studio solutions open. A .sln lists the Visual Studio release, every project it groups, and the Debug and Release build configurations.

3.26 - 3.29

Origin Story

17 June 2026, 20:37

  • A big wave of creative and document formats now open in full, After Effects projects can be explored layer by layer, and almost any file now tells you which program and version made it.
  • NewAfter Effects projects open. An .aep rebuilds every composition timeline, with each layer drawn as a bar and named by its source. You can zoom into it and pan across.
  • NewPhotoshop opens fully. A .psd or .psb shows the flattened picture plus the whole layer tree, with each layer’s blend mode, opacity, visibility and a thumbnail.
  • NewIllustrator artwork opens. A modern .ai file renders page by page, just like a PDF.
  • NewPaintings open. .pdn from Paint.NET, along with Krita and Procreate, shows the artwork preview baked into the file, the canvas size, layer count and the app version.
  • NewFonts you can try on. A .ttf, .otf, .woff, .woff2 or collection now shows a live specimen and a grid of every glyph outline.
  • NewE-books and scans open. Kindle books (.mobi, .azw, .azw3) and DjVu scans (.djvu) open and turn page by page.
  • NewDatabases open. A Microsoft Access file (.mdb, .accdb) lists every table with its columns and row count, and shows a sample of the data.
  • NewAutoCAD drawings open. A .dwg or .dwt is rendered to a 2D drawing with a layer and entity breakdown.
  • NewMore 3D and spreadsheets. glTF and GLB 3D scenes (.gltf, .glb) open in the model viewer, and the binary Excel workbook (.xlsb) reads out its sheets.
  • NewScripts are analysed. PowerShell (.ps1, .psm1, .psd1) and Windows batch (.bat, .cmd) files now show what they do, what they call and whether they are signed.
  • NewJPEG XL images display. A .jxl now shows the picture itself, not only its details.
  • NewFiles tell you what made them. Across After Effects, audio, video, SVG and EPUB files, the readout names the program and version that created the file.
  • FixA Go module is not a song. A go.mod file is no longer mistaken for an Amiga music module and opened as sound. It opens as text.
  • Offline downloads tidied. The “Download for offline use” panel in the footer is now a drop-down: open when you have nothing saved, folded away once you do.
  • A small touch. More format guide pages gained a “did you know” fact.

3.14 - 3.25

Rewind

17 June 2026, 04:41

  • Play almost anything backwards: video, sound, and animated GIFs and WebP. Three new image formats arrive, and every player gains a volume control.
  • NewReverse a whole video. A Reverse card re-encodes a clip playing backwards, picture and sound together, entirely on your device. It works in chunks, so even a long video finishes instead of running out of memory.
  • NewReverse the sound too. Any audio file can now play backwards and be saved as a reversed copy.
  • NewReverse an animation. An animated .gif or animated .webp can be played backwards and downloaded as a reversed GIF.
  • NewAnimated WebP, frame by frame. An animated .webp can now be stepped through one frame at a time, the same way an animated GIF already could.
  • NewIcons open. A Windows .ico now opens and shows every image packed inside it, each at its own size.
  • New3D stereo photos open. An .mpo, the twin-image format from 3D cameras, opens and shows both the left and right pictures.
  • NewEvery page of a multi-page TIFF. A .tiff that holds several pages now reveals each one, not just the first.
  • NewVolume controls everywhere. Every sound and video player gained a volume slider and a mute button, and they stay in sync - set it once and every player on the site follows.
  • NewFont sources open. A .glif glyph file is identified and its outline is drawn. It is the building block of a UFO font project from RoboFont, Glyphs or FontForge.
  • NewVariable fonts come to life. The preview sits above the details, with a slider and a play button for each axis, so you can dial in or animate any of them.
  • FixA tidier Back button. The Back to button matches the rest of the site and lines up with the page width, instead of stretching edge to edge.
  • A tidier folder and archive view. The file tree now sits beneath the treemap, and the “filter by type” controls tuck into a popup instead of always taking up room.
  • Maintenance: the online and offline indicator checks once when the page loads, rather than polling in the background.

3.13

Off Grid

13 June 2026, 15:45

  • NewHighscores can now be seen in the Stats page.
  • Industrial CAD models now travel with you - they open with no connection at all.
  • NewCAD solids open fully offline. The engine that turns a .step model into something you can view joins the Everything offline download, so these heavy engineering files open with no internet.

3.12

Paper Trail

13 June 2026, 15:05

  • Old Office files and OpenDocument files now open as tidy page-by-page previews, just like PDFs.
  • NewThe pre-2007 Office formats open. Legacy .doc (Word), .xls (Excel) and .ppt (PowerPoint) files from Office 97-2003 now open and lay out their text, tables and slides - no copy of Office needed.
  • NewOpenDocument files open too. The .odt, .ods and .odp documents from LibreOffice and OpenOffice now read out their contents, drawings included.
  • NewDocuments look like paper. Word, OpenDocument and the legacy Office files now render as paper-like pages you can flip through and open full-size, mirroring the PDF reading experience.
  • A small touch. Each of these document types now has its own format guide page.

3.06 - 3.11

Flip Book

13 June 2026, 06:57

  • Step through an animated GIF a single frame at a time.
  • NewEvery frame of an animated GIF. An animated .gif can be stepped through frame by frame, each one composited the way it appears mid-loop, so you can study a single moment.
  • Maintenance - internal fixes and housekeeping, including a versioning glitch in the release script.

3.02 - 3.05

Going Pro (RAW)

12 June 2026, 21:32

  • More of the awkward stuff opens: database write-ahead logs, git repository internals and Sigma RAW. A folder scan tells you exactly what will not open.
  • NewCamera RAW gets its own shelf. RAW photos are now their own group in the formats list, separate from everyday JPEGs and PNGs, with X-Trans and Foveon cameras called out by name.
  • NewSigma Foveon photos open. A Sigma .x3f RAW now shows the full-resolution image baked inside it, joining the rest of the RAW family.
  • NewThe files a database leaves beside itself. Analyser reads SQLite’s -wal and -shm sidecars, showing pending changes, how many pages a transaction touched, and checkpoint progress.
  • NewLook inside a git repository. The compressed objects git keeps under .git open with no git installed, revealing each object’s type, size and identifier, and reading commit and tag messages.
  • NewThe folder scan flags the unknowns too. The openability check for a folder or ZIP now also calls out file types Analyser doesn’t recognise, not just ones it can’t decode - an honest list of what it can and can’t handle.
  • FasterFolder scans breeze past HEIC. Checking whether iPhone and Samsung HEIC photos open no longer decodes each one in full, so sweeping a folder full of them is far quicker.
  • NewExports leave nothing behind. Exporting a report now opens every collapsed section first, generates the video contact sheet if you hadn’t, and adds a SHA-256 fingerprint for video files - so the saved copy is complete.
  • FixYour results stay put. The “email me” and “suggest a format” links now open in a new tab, so reaching for your mail app no longer navigates away from the analysis on screen.

3.01

Hard Copy

12 June 2026, 05:43

  • Take your analysis with you. Export any result as a self-contained report, a data file, or a plain spreadsheet.
  • NewExport the analysis. An Export data button offers three formats: a Complete report web page with the pictures baked in, a machine-readable JSON file, and a plain text CSV. Everything is built on your device.
  • New3D models export as a clean isometric still. When you export a report for an .stl or .step, Analyser captures it from a tidy isometric angle, framed to nearly fill the picture.
  • NewStats from anywhere. Every page’s header now carries a Stats button, and the Stats page notes the date the counting began.
  • A small touch. The line under the title now calls out PDFs, documents and archives alongside photos, sound and video - a truer picture of what you can drop.

3.0

Raw Power

12 June 2026, 05:35

  • The third milestone - camera RAW files get a proper darkroom. See every image baked inside a RAW, develop the real sensor data, read the photo’s true resolution, and pull out the shutter count.
  • NewEvery image hidden inside a RAW. An Embedded images section reveals the ready-made JPEGs a camera tucks into a RAW file, each at its real size and ready to save. It works across .arw, .nef, .dng and the rest.
  • NewDevelop the RAW for real. A Demosaic RAW button decodes the actual sensor data into a full-resolution image, the way a RAW developer would. Every measurement below then reflects the true photo.
  • NewThe real resolution, not the preview’s. A RAW’s dimensions, megapixels and aspect ratio now come from the photo itself, read from the file’s own metadata, rather than the smaller preview shown on screen.
  • NewShutter actuations for Sony and Nikon. Analyser recovers the lifetime shutter count from Sony and Nikon photos, even though each camera hides it in its own private metadata. That is useful when buying a used body.
  • FixDrag big photos freely. Panning a zoomed-in photo no longer gets snatched away by the browser trying to drag the picture itself.

2.39

Head Count

12 June 2026, 04:31

  • Two anonymous counters arrive: how many files Analyser has analysed, and how many people have visited. A new Stats page and a plain-language Privacy page come with them.
  • NewA live visitor count. The header Status area now shows a running Visitors tally, linked through to the full stats.
  • NewA Stats page. The new Stats page shows the total files analysed, the total visitors, and a breakdown of the most-dropped file types, each with its share of all drops. Every supported type links to its format guide.
  • NewUnsupported types, pooled. File types Analyser does not yet recognise are counted together as a single Unsupported types row, and their raw names are never shown.
  • NewA Privacy page. A new Privacy page sets out exactly what is and isn’t recorded: your files never leave your device, only a file’s extension is ever sent (never its name or contents), and visits are counted anonymously.
  • NewThe version number opens the changelog. The Version in every page’s header is now a link straight to this page.
  • A small touch. The footer’s “Everything runs in your browser” heading now answers the cursor with the same letter effect as the page headings.

2.38

Big Picture

11 June 2026, 16:16

  • PowerPoint slides open full-size, and links to a format’s guide never lead to a dead end.
  • NewOpen a slide full-size. The slides in a .pptx tile in a grid and click to open full-size in a lightbox, with the text rendered large rather than thumbnail-sized.
  • FixNo more dead format links. A link to a format’s guide page is now checked against the catalogue first, so an extension without its own page no longer leads to a missing page.

Do a little Spring Cleanin’

11 June 2026, 04:39

  • I’m always too busy dreamin’.
  • Maintenance - thorough internal refactoring and quality of life changes.

2.28

Blueprint

11 June 2026, 03:29

  • FixCAD files read more reliably. Reading the header of a .step CAD model now copes with comments placed between its data fields, so the originating system, author and schema are picked out correctly instead of being garbled.

2.27

Trivia

11 June 2026, 01:25

  • Every format guide page gains a richer “Did you know” section, plus a navbar to flip between guides or jump to a random one.
  • New“Did you know” on every guide. Each per-format guide page carries a handful of researched facts: where the format came from, who made it, and what replaced it. The 121 main file types get four or five.
  • NewBrowse between guides. Each guide page has its own navbar with Previous, I’m feeling lucky and Next, stepping through the formats in the same order as the Formats page.
  • New“I’m feeling lucky”. The Formats page gains its own I’m feeling lucky button that opens a random format guide.
  • NewLinks in the formats popup. In the supported-formats popup, every extension is now a link straight to its guide page.
  • NewMulti-body 3D models split into parts. When an .stl or .step holds several separate bodies, the viewer offers a Bodies picker. View each body on its own, or see them all together.
  • NewPause the 3D spin. The 3D viewer’s auto-rotate now has a Pause spin / Resume spin button, and simply dragging the model stops it spinning so you can inspect it from any angle.
  • FixCriterium DecisionPlus files read correctly. A .cdp decision-analysis model is recognised and its goal, criteria and notes are read out. It stays separate from the unrelated CDP4 space-engineering format that shares the extension.

2.26

Side Load

10 June 2026, 18:18

  • NewAndroid apps, taken apart. Drop an .apk and Analyser now reads its AndroidManifest to show the package name, app label, version, and the Android versions it needs - minimum, target and maximum, each with its marketing name (Android 14 and the like).
  • NewPermissions and features at a glance. The full list of permissions an app requests and the device features it relies on are shown in expandable lists, so you can see what it can reach before installing.
  • NewHow it’s built and signed. Analyser reports the signing scheme (v1 through v3.1), how many code files it holds, any bundled native libraries and their processor types, and telltale flags like a debuggable build or a cleartext-traffic setting - plus the full package contents.

2.25

Close Up

10 June 2026, 17:15

  • Zoom right into any photo, PDF or comic, and the Back button now closes a viewer instead of leaving the page.
  • NewPinch, scroll or click to zoom. Every full-screen viewer zooms and pans now. Pinch or scroll to zoom, drag to move around, and click to zoom in and back out again.
  • NewThe Back button closes pop-ups. Pressing Back closes whatever is open, such as the image viewer or the formats list, instead of navigating away. Installed as an app, it asks before you exit.
  • NewSharper PDF pages, on demand. PDF page previews render crisper, and a new High-res button re-renders the current page at much higher resolution so you can zoom right in.
  • NewMore from every PDF. The PDF reader lists the fonts a document uses, flags any embedded JavaScript, and points out pages that are scanned images. Extracted text keeps its line breaks, with a Copy button on each page.
  • FixLinks open at the top. Following a link to another page now starts you at the top of it, instead of part-way down where the link happened to sit.
  • FixClearer Close button. The close button in the image, PDF and comic viewers is now high-contrast, so it stays easy to see over any picture.

2.24

Long Tail

10 June 2026, 05:00

  • Every supported format now has its own guide page - all 1,000-plus of them.
  • NewGuides for the other nine hundred formats. Until now only formats with a full viewer had a dedicated page. Every identification-only format gets one too, covering what the file is, what Analyser reads from it, and the formats related to it.
  • NewReach them from the Formats page. Every row on the Formats page now links each of its extensions to its guide page, so a guide is one tap away while you browse - whichever of the two kinds it is.
  • Behind the scenes. Search engines are told about every one of the new pages, so looking up an obscure extension can land you straight on its guide.

2.21 - 2.23

Read Me

10 June 2026, 04:22

  • Maintenance: the project’s internal guide and the public GitHub readme were rewritten and brought up to date. Nothing on the site itself changed.

2.20

Field Guide

10 June 2026, 02:24

  • A browsable Formats page, a dedicated guide for every format Analyser reads in depth, and lighter, faster pages.
  • NewA page for every supported format. A new Formats page lists all 1,000-plus file types Analyser supports, grouped by category and searchable, each marked Full or ID. See what it opens before dropping a file.
  • NewA guide for each format you can really dig into. Every format with a full viewer has its own plain-language page, reachable from the Formats page and from a web search.
  • FasterPages that don’t open a file load lighter. The About, Changelog, Formats and per-format guide pages no longer pull in a 74 KB photo-metadata library they never use - it is fetched only when you actually analyse a photo or video.
  • FixTidier format lists on phones. On the Formats page, each format’s file extensions sit under its name, matching the popup and the About page, so the long lists read more easily on a narrow screen.
  • Behind the scenes. The supported-format count, the page descriptions and the sitemap dates now all update themselves from a single source, so they can no longer drift apart, and the site describes itself more accurately to search engines and link previews.

2.19

Even Keel

9 June 2026, 23:07

  • Two small layout fixes - to the menu buttons and the connection indicator.
  • FixEven-width menu buttons on narrow screens. The About, Changelog, Formats and Share buttons under the title now share the row evenly on small phones, instead of some stretching wider than others.
  • FixOffline status turns red. The header Status dot now glows red the moment you lose connection, so the Offline state is easy to spot at a glance.

2.18

Errata

9 June 2026, 22:07

  • Small fix.

2.17

Fine Print

9 June 2026, 21:40

  • Folders and ZIPs packed with tiny files are finally easy to explore, and a video’s sound gets its full waveform tools back.
  • NewCrowded folders become one tidy block. In the Treemap, a folder holding thousands of tiny files now draws as a single hatched block labelled with its file count, instead of an unreadable wall of one-pixel slivers.
  • NewBrowse those files in a list. Clicking that block opens a searchable, size-sorted list of the files inside. Filter by name and click any one to analyse it, so a folder of thousands of small files stays navigable.
  • FixFull waveform for a video’s sound track. The Audio track section has its proper waveform back. Drag to select a region, zoom in, export the selection as a WAV, and grab the playhead to scrub.
  • Fix“Analyse audio” lands at the top of the section. Clicking Analyse audio on a video now scrolls to the top of the Sound section, heading and all, rather than dropping you partway down it.
  • FixNo share prompt on files that won’t open. The “share Analyser” card reliably stays away when a file can’t be read because it’s only stored in the cloud (OneDrive and the like), whatever the exact error.
  • Housekeeping. The offline download sizes drop the ~, and the footer’s Dependencies list now credits every library Analyser bundles - 3D/CAD via OpenCASCADE, SQLite, RAR/7z, JPEG 2000, PostScript, Lottie and more.

2.16

Drill Down

9 June 2026, 20:56

  • A smarter treemap for folders and ZIPs, and a string of fixes for opening the files inside them.
  • NewFilter the treemap by file type. The Treemap for a folder or ZIP lists every file type it found as a row of chips. Tap one and the map redraws with only those files. Tap it again to bring everything back.
  • FixCrowded folders stay readable. A folder holding thousands of tiny files used to fill the treemap with an unreadable wall of slivers. It now collapses into a single labelled block with its file count, which you click to drill in.
  • NewJump straight to a file’s analysis. Opening a file from inside a folder or ZIP now scrolls to the section where it’s analysed, so the result is in front of you.
  • FixLoading bar for files inside a folder or ZIP. Starting analysis on a file listed within a folder or archive now shows the loading bar like every other open.
  • FixFolder drop zones step aside. After you drop a folder, the drop zones now tuck away just as they do for a single file, instead of lingering over the results.
  • FixThe file tree opens the folder you clicked. Clicking into a deeply nested subfolder from the File tree now lands in that exact folder, rather than skipping the one that contains it.
  • FixNo share nudge on files that won’t open. The “share Analyser” card no longer slides in when a file can’t be read because it’s only stored in the cloud (OneDrive and the like).
  • FixScrubber replay icon. On the audio and video scrubber, the replay icon now reverts to play the moment you scrub elsewhere, instead of staying a replay control until you press it.
  • NewSearch reaches every corner. The search box understands far more terms now, covering folders, 3D models, Office documents, e-books, subtitles, MIDI and editing timelines.
  • NewTidier menu buttons. The About, Changelog, Share, Links and day/night buttons now sit on a soft background that matches the menu bar, and every button shows the hand cursor on hover.

2.15

Word of Mouth

9 June 2026, 19:39

  • NewShare Analyser in a tap. A new Share button opens a tidy popup to copy the link or send it by e-mail, with a More platforms list behind a tap. On phones it hands off to your device’s own share sheet.
  • NewA gentle nudge to spread the word. A small card may slide in after a file is analysed, inviting you to share. It shows at most once a day and tucks itself away after half a minute.
  • FixDrop zones offer the right files. The file picker now filters by type on phones as well as desktop - the photo/video zone offers photos and videos, the sound zone offers audio, and the third still takes anything at all.
  • NewChoose your spectrogram export size. Saving a spectrogram as an image now asks for the height and zoom first, so you can save a bigger or more detailed picture than the one on screen.
  • NewDropped-frame readout for AVI. The frame-by-frame AVI player now shows a dropped-frame count when playback can’t keep up, so it’s clear when a clip is simply too heavy to play smoothly.
  • FixMenu, search and footer polish. The menu bar gains its missing edge dividers, and the search box appears only once you have opened a file. The footer links spread evenly across one row on phones.

2.14

Postmark

9 June 2026, 14:59

  • NewVerified contact email. The “suggest this format” prompt and the footer’s “Email me!” link run a quick human-check before they reveal the address, so it stays away from spam bots.
  • NewLive connection status. The Status line in the header updates in real time, with a green dot when you are connected. Everything still runs locally either way, and only sending mail needs the internet.
  • FixSuggest-a-format prompt for every unknown file. The prompt now appears for any file Analyser doesn’t recognise, not only ones that show a bare hex dump, and it slides in a moment after the results settle rather than competing with them.
  • Typography tidy-up. Long dashes throughout the readouts are replaced with plain hyphens for a more consistent look.

2.13

Negative

9 June 2026, 06:38

  • NewThe menu bar flips to an inverted look. Once you open a file and scroll down, the pinned menu bar switches to a bold inverted colour scheme so it stands out from the page. The change is animated.
  • New“Suggest this format”. When a file cannot be opened, a small prompt offers to email the format in, either just the extension or a sample file, so it can be added.
  • FixSpectrogram playback line. The white position line stays accurate at any zoom level and glides smoothly to new positions, and the view scrolls to keep it in sight while playing. You can also drag the spectrogram sideways to pan when zoomed in.
  • NewFull-screen spectrogram height. In full-screen, a new Fill height stretches the spectrogram to the whole screen, alongside the fixed pixel heights.
  • FixClearer offline downloads. Once a download tier is saved, the smaller tiers read Included and larger ones show only the extra space needed to upgrade. A failed download now names the files that didn’t make it.
  • FixLoading bar. The bouncing marker in the loading popup now travels the full width instead of stopping just short on the right.

2.12

Stack Up

7 June 2026, 18:00

  • Tidier supported-formats popup. Each group’s file extensions now sit under the group name instead of crammed beside it, matching the About page, so long extension lists are easier to scan.

2.11

Short Hand

7 June 2026, 17:35

  • FixClean web addresses. Pages live at tidy addresses now, such as /about rather than /about.html. The old links redirect to them, so a bookmarked or shared link always lands on the right page.

2.10

Round Trip

7 June 2026, 17:15

  • FixReloading or sharing an inner page works again. Opening the About page from inside the app and then refreshing it could land on a broken page. Those addresses load correctly on a direct hit or a reload now.
  • NewThe site now ships a machine-readable summary (llms.txt) and a complete sitemap, so search engines and AI assistants can describe Analyser accurately.

2.09

Long Play

7 June 2026, 16:15

  • Raw camera and dash-cam video opens properly now - even multi-gigabyte files.
  • FixRaw H.264 / H.265 clips actually play. The step that wraps a bare .h264 stream into a playable MP4 was failing to start, so these clips would not open. They play in the normal player now.
  • NewVery large raw streams play in parts. A stream too big to convert in one piece is split at its keyframes into parts you step through one at a time, with a loading bar while each part prepares.
  • NewEach part gets the full treatment - frame-by-frame navigation with editable timecode, send a frame to photo analysis, grab it as a PNG, the codec and profile readout, resolution and aspect ratio, on-demand SHA-256, and opt-in scene detection for the part you’re watching.

2.08

Sound Check

7 June 2026, 00:15

  • NewMute the sound on AVI playback. The frame player for .avi clips (and similar) now carries a SOUND / MUTED toggle, so you can run the frames with or without the clip’s audio. Either way the picture stays perfectly in sync.

2.07

Reel Time

6 June 2026, 19:10

  • Videos the browser cannot open get a real player, frame by frame and in sync with their sound. Raw H.264 support arrives with it.
  • NewMotion-JPEG AVI clips get a proper frame-by-frame player. Press play and the extracted frames run at the clip’s frame rate on a loop, or step through them with Prev and Next.
  • NewThose AVI frames now play in sync with the clip’s own sound, with the audio keeping the frames on time.
  • NewRaw H.264 / H.265 streams (.h264, .265 and the like - the bare elementary streams dash-cams and capture cards write) are now remuxed to MP4 in the browser, so they open in the normal player.
  • NewDropping a video no longer analyses its sound and first frame on its own - there are now Analyse audio and Analyse photo buttons so you decide when to run them, with a loading popup while the audio works.
  • NewThe frame tools sit together in one row now, with the frames shown above the file details.
  • FixAuto-scroll to a dropped video no longer overshoots when the audio and photo buttons load in above its section.

2.06

Calling Card

6 June 2026, 17:55

  • NewWindows programs show their icon. Analyser digs the application icon out of an .exe or .dll and runs it through the full photo analysis, alongside the usual version and publisher details.

2.05

Green Light

6 June 2026, 17:50

  • FixOrdinary videos no longer get turned away. Analyser could misread a normal 8-bit H.264 file as exotic footage and show the “use VLC” banner instead of playing it. It reads the format reliably now.
  • FixAVI clips (the Motion-JPEG kind older cameras record, like Canon MVI_*.AVI) now reliably show their frames and extracted audio again, rather than the unplayable banner or a black player - Analyser decodes them itself instead of waiting on the browser.
  • NewDropping a video or audio file now scrolls straight to its section, so the player and analysis are in front of you without a scroll.
  • NewPDF page previews moved to the top of the results and lost their duplicate buttons. On a phone, each preview’s buttons are always visible instead of hidden behind a hover.

2.04

Cross Reference

6 June 2026, 17:15

  • FixThe new editing-timeline formats (EDL, FCPXML, OTIO) now sit under Video in the supported-formats list, so the changelog and About-page deep-links to them land in the right section instead of under “System & disk”.

2.03

Solid State

6 June 2026, 17:05

  • Two new viewers arrive: a real 3D model viewer and an editing-timeline viewer. Frame-accurate tools for video come with them.
  • NewThe STL viewer is a full 3D model viewer now. It opens OBJ, PLY, 3MF and AMF as well, and tessellates STEP and IGES CAD solids so you can orbit them in the browser.
  • NewA new editing-timeline viewer draws the sequences exported from Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid, as visual tracks of clip blocks placed by timecode.
  • NewThe video player gains frame-accurate controls. Click the editable timecode to jump to an exact frame, step a single frame either way, or grab the current frame as a PNG.
  • FixRAW photo previews come out more reliably. The embedded-preview scan could lock onto a chunk of raw sensor noise instead of the real JPEG, and it insists on a genuine image marker now.
  • FixThe photo aspect-ratio readout now shows the nearest standard ratio with its own decimal beside the exact one, so the two read side by side - e.g. 258:145 (1.7793) ≈ 16:9 (1.7778).

2.0

Wide Angle

6 June 2026, 05:10

  • The second big one - Analyser now recognises well over a hundred more formats and looks deeper into the ones it already knew.
  • NewOver 120 new file types are identified, with version, author and header details pulled out where they exist. They span developer files, archives, 3D and CAD, disk images, game assets, documents, email, certificates and GIS.
  • NewVideo-editing projects read in far more detail - After Effects, Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, DaVinci Resolve, Filmora and CapCut now surface what is inside the project rather than just naming it.
  • New10-bit video is now read in full. Analyser reports the bit depth and chroma subsampling (4:2:0 / 4:2:2 / 4:4:4) of H.264 and HEVC, so footage like Sony XAVC HS / FX-series is correctly flagged as 10-bit 4:2:2.
  • NewWhen a browser limitation stops a photo or video from showing, a clear banner explains why and recommends VLC for video, instead of a dead, empty player.
  • NewYour offline downloads remember themselves - each tier shows a “Cached” tag with its version the moment the page loads, and quietly refreshes itself when the app updates.
  • FixLarge videos load faster - the first frame is grabbed only when you ask for it, and the checksum is skipped by default on big files. The spectrogram now opens on its logarithmic frequency axis, closer to how you hear.

1.29

Field Guide

6 June 2026, 02:41

  • NewThe supported-formats list is rebuilt. Formats are grouped by category with filter chips to narrow them at a tap, and each row carries a FULL or ID badge. On a phone it slides up as a bottom sheet.
  • NewThe photo brightness histogram now spans the full width above the image and can be clicked to zoom.
  • FixReading text from images and PDFs uses one language picker now, with a [?] note on what it can do. The button reads Extract text.
  • FixIf an offline download cannot fetch every file, it says how many failed and lets you retry, instead of stopping quietly.
  • FixThe lightbox re-fits the image when you rotate or resize the window, the heading hover effect thins in faster and no longer reflows after a resize, and the photo colour palette keeps its single row on large phones.

1.28

In Brief

5 June 2026, 20:30

  • NewProfessional video formats the browser cannot play, such as Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD, are named now. Their first visible frame is pulled out for a preview you can analyse.
  • NewThe photo location map now works fully offline - its markers and controls are bundled with the app rather than fetched from the internet.
  • NewResult cards fold away - click any card’s heading to collapse it, so a long analysis is easier to scan. Once a file is loaded, the dropzones tuck into a single Analyse next file? button.
  • NewA plain-language [?] note now appears automatically beside dozens more readouts - container, codec, aspect ratio, bitrate, channels and the rest.
  • NewThe Changelog gains a tl;dr button - one tap condenses every release, top to bottom, into a sentence or two apiece, so you can skim the whole history at a glance. Tap it again for the full notes.

1.27

Dovetail

5 June 2026, 20:00

  • Maintenance: dozens of small helper functions copy-pasted across the format parsers were folded into shared utilities. Nothing changes in how the app works.

1.26

Cover Story

5 June 2026, 19:30

  • NewImages pulled out of other files are analysed in the Photo section. Album art from a song, an e-book cover or a rendered PDF page opens with the full photo readout, instead of being tucked inline.
  • NewOCR on a PDF page now asks which language, from the same sixty-plus language menu as image OCR. Tick Remember for this session to skip the prompt on later scans, and each language shows whether it is already downloaded or will fetch on first use.
  • NewThe supported-formats list is grouped into Full analysis, Core formats and Extended formats, so the headline viewers stand apart from the long tail of identified types.
  • FixOpen PDF in browser now opens the file in a new tab instead of prompting to download it.

1.25

Floor Plan

5 June 2026, 18:30

  • Maintenance: the website’s files were reorganised into clearer folders, and every reference was updated to match. Nothing changes in how the app works.

1.24

Glide

5 June 2026, 18:00

  • FixThe title hover effect, where the letters thin out toward your cursor, eases smoothly as the pointer arrives and as it leaves, rather than snapping back.

1.23

Developed

5 June 2026, 16:10

  • NewMany more camera RAW formats open with the full photo analysis, including Hasselblad (3FR), Phase One (IIQ), Leica and Kodak. Rare cinema RAW is identified.
  • NewThe camera shutter actuation count is now read from RAW files and JPEGs that record it - useful for gauging how much a used camera body has been worn.
  • NewRAW develop settings. Drop a RAW with its .xmp sidecar, or use the Import XMP settings button, and the applied edits are listed. Capture One and DxO sidecars are read too.
  • NewComputational-photo wrappers are flagged - Apple ProRAW and Live Photo, Google and Samsung Motion Photo, and Ultra HDR gain maps.
  • FixThe greyed-out Photo, Sound and Video tabs are no longer highlighted as you scroll a non-media file’s results.

1.22

Omnivore

5 June 2026, 16:10

  • NewHundreds more file formats are recognised, across images, audio, video, documents, archives, 3D, maps and science, so far fewer files come back as “unknown”.
  • NewNew full viewers. Comic books (CBZ, CBR) open as a page-by-page reader, SQLite databases show their full schema, and JPEG 2000 images decode and display.
  • NewMuch deeper analysis of files you could already open: the AI-generation prompt hidden in a PNG, an MP3’s bitrate, video codec / rotation / HDR, PDF bookmarks, forms and permissions, Word tracked-changes and Excel formulas, ZIP safety warnings, and GPX elevation profiles.
  • NewSmart type detection - drop a file with no extension, or the wrong one, and Analyser works out what it really is and offers to open it that way.
  • FixCSV files with quoted line breaks now parse correctly, SVG previews are sanitised for safety, and the in-page search reveals matches tucked inside collapsed sections.
  • The navbar now greys out the Photo, Sound and Video tabs for a non-media file, so they can’t mislead.

1.21

Magnetic Type

5 June 2026, 02:04

  • The playful title effect, where letters thin out as your cursor passes over them, reaches the section headings on the About and Changelog pages too.
  • FixThe letter spacing in headings now holds steady when you zoom the page in your browser, instead of the gaps drifting apart.

1.20

House Style

5 June 2026, 01:40

  • A full visual tidy-up across the whole app: one consistent accent red, matching spacing and type sizes, and unified hover states. Every page now looks of a piece.
  • NewEvery button, link, and control now shows a clear keyboard focus outline when you tab to it, so the app is far easier to use without a mouse. (It stays hidden for mouse clicks.)
  • FixThe layout now switches to its single-column phone view at one consistent screen width, so the header and the page body always change together.

1.19

Sign Posts

5 June 2026, 00:53

  • NewShortcut files are now decoded - Windows shortcuts (LNK) reveal the target path, arguments, working directory, icon, hotkey, and window state, while internet (URL) and macOS web shortcuts (WEBLOC) show the address they point to.
  • NewTHM files, the small JPEG thumbnail a camera saves next to each video clip, open with the full photo analysis.
  • NewCanon camera catalogs (CTG) are read for the folder they track and its photo, movie and voice-memo counts.
  • NewRaw disk images (IMG) now have their partition table (MBR/GPT) and first filesystem decoded - FAT, NTFS, or exFAT, with the volume label and size.
  • NewREC files are identified, telling apart PVR/DVR video recordings from data-recovery session files.
  • FixMarkdown files now open in the Markdown viewer reliably, and the “view source” popup behaves.

1.18

Marked Up

4 June 2026, 23:27

  • NewMarkdown files open as a formatted, readable page, with headings, lists, tables and code blocks, instead of raw text.
  • NewThe spectrogram gains a Reassigned view alongside the standard one, sharpening blurry tones into crisp lines, with the analysis settings tucked into a tidy Advanced dropdown.
  • NewYou can zoom the spectrogram in much further, up to 48x, with a scrollbar to pan along. The Peak stat points to the loudest moment rather than the loudest frequency.
  • The photo aspect ratio now also names the nearest standard ratio (like 16:9 or 4:3) next to the exact figure.
  • FixThe file-loading animation no longer stutters under heavy load - it now runs smoothly while a big file is being read.

1.17

In the Picture

4 June 2026, 13:18

  • NewCover art in music files and EPUB books is now fully analysed as a photo right where it appears - dimensions, colours, EXIF, and the rest show inline, with no extra click.
  • NewMore readouts carry a plain-language “?” note explaining what they mean, including the MIME type line and the ISRC recording code in music tags.
  • FixDropping a file onto the About or Changelog page now reliably hands it to the analyser instead of occasionally doing nothing.

1.16

Inside Out

4 June 2026, 12:33

  • NewPictures buried inside documents can now be analysed in place - click an image in a Word, PowerPoint, or EPUB file, or in a PDF, and the full photo analysis (EXIF, histogram, colours, OCR…) runs on it.
  • NewAudio your browser cannot play, such as WMA, AC3 and DTS, no longer errors out. The container details, tags, lyrics and cover art are read straight from the file.
  • NewZIP archives now report the compression method each file uses (Deflate, Stored…) and show a CRC checksum per entry.
  • NewLightroom catalogs (LRCAT) are now read as the SQLite databases they are.
  • A SHA-256 fingerprint now appears for ZIP, CSV, SVG, PDF, and undecodable audio too - it was missing for these.
  • FixThe spectrogram now truly fills the screen in fullscreen with no gap, and the bottom (0 Hz) and top frequency labels are no longer clipped.
  • FixClearer, more accurate explanations for the photo brightness histogram and the dominant-colour picker.

1.15

On the Map

4 June 2026, 07:19

  • NewSubtitle files (SRT, WebVTT, ASS/SSA) now open as a full timed cue list - cue count, total on-screen time, and every line with its timecode.
  • NewMIDI files are parsed into a readable score - tempo (BPM), time signature, track names, the General MIDI instruments used, note counts, and length. (MIDI is a score, not recorded sound, so there’s no playback.)
  • NewMap data - drop a GPX track, KML, or GeoJSON file and the route is plotted on a map, with distance, elevation range, time span, and bounds.

1.14

Full Frame

4 June 2026, 06:47

  • The audio amplitude histogram now sits directly under the spectrogram, lined up with what you’re looking at.
  • NewA floating exit-fullscreen button appears in fullscreen, and the now-meaningless Height control is hidden there - the view fills the screen on its own.

1.13

Liner Notes

4 June 2026, 06:31

  • NewMusic files surface their tags and lyrics, reading artist, album and year from ID3, Vorbis, MP4 and Opus. Embedded and .lrc timed lyrics each get their own card.
  • NewFLAC files now report their true sample rate, bit depth, and channel count from the stream header.
  • NewThe spectrogram controls are reorganised into tidy View / Resolution / Actions groups, and the Live microphone view keeps a rolling buffer so you can analyse the last 15 seconds at any moment.
  • FixAnalysing a video’s scenes no longer hijacks the player - detection runs off-screen while you keep scrubbing, and very large videos skip automatic detection (start it by hand).
  • FixRecorded-audio scrubbing and seeking behave now. The mobile navbar stays pinned and the footer links stack cleanly.

1.12

Fine Tuning

4 June 2026, 04:43

  • NewThe spectrogram gains a Sensitivity slider that pulls faint detail out of the noise floor - it is render-only, so it redraws instantly without recomputing the FFT.
  • NewEvery spectrogram now carries an at-a-glance stats line: the peak frequency, the detected frequency range, the dynamic range in dB, and the analysis resolution (Hz per bin and milliseconds per frame).
  • NewThe old Patch notes page is now the Changelog - same page, plainer name, with the header link renamed on every page.
  • Clicking valjdakosta in the byline opens in the same tab instead of a new one. The Links button keeps its tap-to-confirm and still opens separately.
  • FixMoving the mouse over the title during its intro animation now blends with the sweep instead of cutting it short.
  • FixHeader tidy-ups: the Changelog heading holds to a single line, and valjdakosta drops just clear of the tail of the title instead of clipping it.
  • FixThe About page’s section tabs were stretched across the wrong columns - they now sit evenly across the row.

1.11

Plain Language

3 June 2026, 21:57

  • NewHover or tap the new “?” help buttons beside almost every readout for a plain-language note on what the value means. They cover photos, sound and video, PDF and 3D models.
  • The photo LSB analysis explanation is now a tidy [?] toggle instead of always-on text.

1.10

Escape Hatch

3 June 2026, 20:45

  • NewThe file-loading popup has a Cancel button that aborts a slow or huge load, even mid folder-scan, and hands the page straight back to you.
  • FixTypography tidied site-wide (em-dashes to hyphens) and the footer dependency list realigned.

1.09

The Treemap

3 June 2026, 14:41

  • NewDrop a folder or ZIP and it opens as an interactive treemap, every file sized by the disk it uses. Click a folder to zoom in, or click a file to analyse it.
  • NewAudio files with embedded cover art now show the artwork - and you can open and analyse it as a photo.
  • NewCloud-only files (OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox) that aren’t downloaded to this device yet are now detected and explained clearly, instead of failing with a generic error.
  • NewPrograms & libraries (EXE, DLL) reveal far more - file and product version, company, copyright, description, linker and subsystem versions, and security mitigations.
  • NewSteam & Valve files (VDF, ACF) are now parsed - App ID, name, install directory, size, and the full key tree.
  • FixVideos no longer briefly play while being analysed on desktop.
  • New formats: M4B audiobooks, 3G2 video, Grasshopper, KiCad PCB and CRDOWNLOAD. Every loading bar shares one [////////] style.

1.06
