What is a .NXML file?
NXML holds journal articles in the NLM/JATS format used by PubMed Central.
- Did you know
- NXML is the format behind millions of articles in PubMed Central.
- The name is short for “NLM XML”, the form PubMed Central transforms submitted articles into for archiving.
- It follows the Journal Article Tag Suite (JATS), standardised as NISO Z39.96 and descended from the NLM Archiving DTD.
- What Analyser shows you
- Open lightweight document and markup formats as selectable page previews: Rich Text Format (RTF, control words stripped to readable prose), AbiWord (ABW), FictionBook e-books (FB2), Hangul HWPX, MHTML web archives (the saved HTML rendered with scripts removed) and Safari .webarchive saved pages (every frame rendered, so Word Online and webmail pages show their text, with the stored images in a grid), plus markup and typesetting source - DITA, TEI, JATS journal XML, reStructuredText, AsciiDoc, Org-mode, Textile, TeX/LaTeX and BibTeX - shown with every page selectable and copyable. Also opens the small sidecar files unpacked from 3MF and OOXML bundles: OPC relationship XML (.rels) and MD5 checksum text (.md5).
- Open a .NXML file
- Drag a .NXML file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It opens entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
