What is a .DITA file?

DITA is an XML topic for technical documentation. An OASIS standard.

Did you know
  • DITA lets technical writers reuse small topics across many manuals.
  • DITA was created at IBM to cut documentation duplication, then handed to the OASIS standards body to maintain.
  • Its “Darwin” name nods to evolution - topics can specialise from base types much as species inherit and adapt.
What Analyser shows you
Open lightweight document and markup formats as selectable page previews: Rich Text Format (RTF, control words stripped to readable prose), AbiWord (ABW), FictionBook e-books (FB2), Hangul HWPX, MHTML web archives (the saved HTML rendered with scripts removed) and Safari .webarchive saved pages (every frame rendered, so Word Online and webmail pages show their text, with the stored images in a grid), plus markup and typesetting source - DITA, TEI, JATS journal XML, reStructuredText, AsciiDoc, Org-mode, Textile, TeX/LaTeX and BibTeX - shown with every page selectable and copyable. Also opens the small sidecar files unpacked from 3MF and OOXML bundles: OPC relationship XML (.rels) and MD5 checksum text (.md5).
